I’m one of those people who use their phone very little compared to those around me. My average daily usage is 1 hour and 47 minutes. My friends’ usage doesn’t go below 3 hours.
And yet, I still think it’s too much. I’ve realised that I use it most after lunch, when I simply spend time watching YouTube videos or listening to music.
So I asked ChatGPT to give me some ideas for ways to rest after lunch without using technology. Here are the suggestions, in case you find them helpful:
Listen to podcasts or audiobooks: Although it involves technology, it’s not a visual stimulus.
Drawing: Keep a sketchpad to doodle or colour in mandalas.
Writing: You can keep a journal, write a story that comes to mind, or make a to-do list.
Mental games: A Rubik's cube, crosswords, word searches…
Meditation
Reading: Whether it’s a novel, a comic book, or a magazine…
Do a puzzle
Crafts: Such as origami or crochet.
So far, I’ve tried writing and meditation. I’ve managed to reduce my phone usage to 1 hour.
I’ll keep working on it.
